Dreams Come True
You only have to look at the smiles on their faces to see what a difference your support makes to our dreamers. We asked a few of the children we’ve helped recently to tell us more about how they felt when their dream came true.
Amit Patel, aged 9
“Disneyland was brilliant, even better than I thought it would be. I went on loads of awesome rides with my mum and dad, I didn’t want to come home.”
Amit's Dad
“Amit is autistic so it can be difficult to take him on days out. Active Dreams thought of everything though and we were treated like royalty throughout our trip. Disneyland is very experienced when it comes to catering for autistic children and they made a real effort to make sure things were right for Amit. We didn’t have to queue for rides for example, which is something that Amit would normally find very hard to deal with. Thank you Active Dreams!”
Tina Finlay, aged 14
“I never thought I’d have something as cool as a quad bike! It’s brilliant being able to go out and about with my friends, and now they have to keep up with me! I try really hard not to let cerebral palsy affect my life, so being able to get around more easily makes a really big difference to me.”
Tina's Mum
"I burst into tears the first time I saw Tina on her quad bike-it was just so nice to see her being able to race her brother down the road. She’s an amazing girl and never complains about having cerebral palsy. That’s why I got in touch with Active Dreams. We couldn’t have afforded anything like this ourselves, but I can’t think of anyone who deserves a bit of help more, so the whole family is totally over the moon. Thank you Active Dreams!”
Mark Heath, aged 12
“Things haven’t been going too well for me lately so it was a real surprise to get my PlayStation 2. It made me feel like good things can still happen and it helps to just switch off and play a game sometimes, especially when I’m not feeling so great.”
Mark's Grandma
“Mark’s cancer treatment can make him feel really under the weather, so he’s over the moon with his Playstation 2. It means he’s got something to do even when he has to rest, without feeling like he’s ‘ill’ all the time. Some people may think it’s a little thing, but when I see Mark enjoying himself like any other 12-year-old boy, it means the world to me. Thank you Active Dreams.”
